Double Vision © is the result of an investigation done about the optical properties of different printable surfaces, which when combined, make of the act of photographing an active process of discovery. It is a composite surface made up of two different images, one directly visible, and another invisible. When you take a photo of it with flash, the invisible image becomes visible in the photo. Thus, this optical technique enriches the experience of the observer by creating a “double reading”. It makes of photography not just a passive medium for registering what is visible, but an active medium for revealing what is invisible.

This work is inspired by the recently deceased Chilean artist Lotty Resenfeld. “NO +“, was an acronym that she coined in the years of military dictatorship in Chile, as a demonstration against violence. My work makes a direct reference to this artist, but using new optical means of representation. At first glance, the work only allows us to see the "NO +", but when photographed with smartphones w/flash, a hidden image appears on the device screen.
